DDP Honours The Asante King


The leading Out-Of-Home company in Ghana and West Africa, DDP Outdoor Ltd has donated an imposing eight metre high giant statue of the Asantehene (Ashanti King) to him and Asanteman (the people of Ashanti). The statue with two water bearers situated at the Kumasi Airport roundabout, was presented on behalf of the company by Dr. Torgbor Mensah, Executive Director of the company in commemoration of the 17th Coronation Anniversary of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as King of Asanteman.

An obviously elated Asantehene, stated during the unveiling ceremony that the construction of the giant statue would spur him on to continue his exceptional leadership to help expedite the development of Asanteman and Ghana as a whole. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II thanked DDP Outdoor Ltd for constructing the giant statue in his honor, stressing that he would continue to lead Asanteman honestly.

Dr. Mensah, briefing the media, said the monument was manufactured with world-class natural resources adding that "it is as solid as the occupant of the Golden Stool himself". He further stated that the donation to Otumfuo and Asantemna is part of DDP Outdoor Ltds corporate social responsibility and the companys long standing working relationship with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).

The statue was erected in consultation with the Urban Roads Department and with technical support from the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, the body with direct oversight responsibility of the Kumasi Metropolis. 
Present at the unveiling ceremony was Lady Julia, wife of Otumfuo and her children; Chiefs from the Manhyia Palace, the Mayor of Kumasi; the Ashanti Regional Roads Engineer; the Metropolitan Roads Engineer and other well-wishers.
